This book is a good read for someone who wants to get a basic knowledge of the Mayans and I believe it would lead the reader to go into further reading of these marvelous, ahead of their time people and if you'd like to know the basics of Mayan History, this is the book to start with and the gods, civilization, arts and beliefs are all here and I am so happy to be given a chance to read this amazing book and In this captivating guide, you will discover why Mayan have gained such worldwide admiration over the many other civilizations that existed in Mesoamerica at the time and you will learn how the Maya civilization developed, the major turning points in their 3,000-year-long history, the mysteries surrounding their demise, and some of the unique places where Maya exist to this day. Discover the origins of the Maya civilization and the Mesoamerican cultures that may have influenced them, find out why Maya (out of all the different tribes that existed in the region at the time) have captured the imagination of the West so much and the book will reveal how they lived, ate, slept, whom they worshipped, and how they used herbal medicines and hallucinogenic plants to treat the sick and the book will also track down the Maya living today, a population that is still six-million strong and adhere to many of the traditions that their ancestors once held. I can only surmise that the 5 star reviews on here were written by the author's family members or bots because this "book" was disastrously bad, I returned it immediately.Even the book itself seems to be surprised it is in print when it asks you to click on printed links. Clearly, there was no editor.The size is pamphlet thin, the content is so broad even the most cursory scan of Wikipedia yields better information. The style of writing and the briefness leads me to believe this might just be an essay assignment some precocious high schooler has passed off as a book. In which case, well done you! This book will help you learn about Mayan Civilization. It is very interesting on how their history, their lives, how they survive and face all their struggles in life up to now. The book was written in a very simple way for better and easier understanding.
This "book" was rather like an extensive magazine articlel. We had visited the Mayan Ruins Chichen Itza ruins in Cozumel, Mexico.I was looking for a more extensive report of the Mayan civilization.
It's really nice .The history of Mayan civilization is really so surprising and mystery of the Mayan Calender .This book help you to learn about the fascinating Mayan people, what made them so advanced and specials,and what caused their decline . There is much to be learned from history,even if it seems unconnected to us in our modern world.It's really a nice book.
