They are losing and retreating from every confrontation.The Hegemony forces are hundreds if not thousands of years more advanced than the rim world’s are. They have prepared for war for over 100 years. Their advanced antimatter powered weapons are decimating the Confederation’s space fleets. They have forced the Confederation forces to retreat at every battle. They now have to only move one step to reach the home of the Confederation’s Core and win the war. Tyler Barron and his combined forces know that they will probably be defeated but they will never give up……..This is an excellent military Sci-Fi book with espionage and treason mixed into the story. It is an excellent book. It has major battles of space ships and the strategies that they are using to defeat each other. The Marines are fighting in the Confederation’s capital to get rid of corrupt politicians and leaders.The story is intense and well written. It is a story that will hold your attention and I rated it at 5 stars.
Maybe... The stakes have never been higher for the Confederation and Tyler. He's escaped unlawful imprisonment at the hands of the corrupt government that seized power and is rallying forces to his banner. Unfortunately, neither he nor Gary Holsten can find a way to clear their names quickly enough, for the Hegemony has followed the remnants of the White Fleet home and begin the Invasion at Dannith.Tyler and his allies will do Whatever they have to do to reunite the Confederation they love and fight off the Invaders, but how can they avoid weakening themselves too much other than to roll their dice against the Sector Nine stooges and risk all in single battle?This book features a multitude of large scale fleet battles. Unfortunately for the Confederation, the Hegemony has unleashed a century worth of fleet construction against them and they have a huge strategic advantage that no one knows about. This war will not be bogged down like fights against the Union would be... The pressure is unrelenting as our heroes fight with their backs against the wall.Speaking of the Union, the seeds of it's destruction and rebirth may be sown in this book...Looking forward to Nightfall!
I could not put this latest book in the Blood on the Stars series down - it was gripping, action packed and had me on the edge of my seat. In this latest book, the Hegemony is plowing its way through Confederation space, taking system after system while the Confederation is dividing itself and verging on civil war. While things are not looking good for the Confederation, the Union is busily plotting on how it can turn the formers problems to its own advantage and come out smelling of roses (sigh...I doubt the Union is ever going to learn from its mistakes). Thankfully, the Confederation has a few loyal souls with the courage to do what's needed to face the onslaught of the Hegemony - people like Tyler Barron, Admiral Clint Winters, Jake Stockton, Gary Holsten and Andi Lefarge, just to name a few. Invasion also had its share of sadness as two main characters are killed (admittedly I was in the throes of unholy glee at one characters death, while crying at the loss of the other). Overall, this is an excellent series and one I highly recommend. Now all that's left to say is how much I'm looking forward to reading the next book and as always, I wish it was out now :)
Wow! I wish I could find the right superlative to express the roller coaster ride this one is. I love the way the author changed from world to world and character to character in perspective and plot. So many plays and in depth tactics. I was on the edge of my seat thru the rescue of Striker to the battles of Winters Sonya and Sasha. And Stockton! What an incredible spokesman and fighter for humanity. I really want Blanth to make some headway into the minds of the insane Masters and Kriegori and take some kind of action. I want to see the supply ships obliterated. I want to see the Hedgmony pay for their hubris and arrogance and their vicious murder of innocents. I want to see the Others come back and extract their vengeance. This book has generated so much emotion. But I gotta say the malevolence throughout the worlds is more than daunting creating a distressing sense of near hopelessness. That’s hard to experience. I also want there to be better sci tech to further the Confeds evolution to a more “perfect unionâ€. I am more than satisfied with Andi’s completion of her “missionâ€. There just wasn’t enough torture for Lille. And too much damage for her. But I look forward to Nightfall with some optimism knowing that Tyler Tulus Gary Atara Fritz Jake will be forced to find a way to reach into the throats of Hedgemony and pull out their spines. And finally. The “senate†needs a serious ass whipping with a metal tipped lash. Like a few others I can name. Bravo again!
The first book in this series was outstanding. As the series moved through Union/Confederation and Union/Alliance conflicts the quality dropped some, but overall remained quite good.At this point I feel the series is becoming stale. I’ve lost track of how many times Anya Fritz has miraculously restored power or Jake Stockton has lead a last ditch fighter attack.There’s a lot of filler in this novel and a sense of just going though the motions.
