Murray Garrett was a great candid photographer and was often at the right place at the right time. In this case he was coveringthe Hollywood of the later Golden Age of movies, providing candid pictures to various publications. He had unique entry and trust among a number of celebrities who have become iconic. This book is a follow-up to his first publication,"Hollywood Candid" andis an addition to the collection of candid pictures. One book compliments the other because both offer a different, but arguably not necessarily better collection of stills. Murray photographed at parties and events, sometimes working for famous columnists,sometimes covering celebrities on assignment for magazines, or sometimes on contract to a particular celebrity. All of the photosbring out the personalities and spontaneity of many of the film world's most recognized celebrities, the majority of which havenow passed from the scene. While there is some duplication between Murray's two books, the collections are different and both would appeal to the generation that was in the audience during the heyday of the old Hollywood. Unlike the printed collectionsof portraiture and publicity stills, emanating from the great studios, the Murray Garrett photos have a freshness and the appealof a candid look at the lives of the famous as they played and socialized in a long lost world of glamor.

_Hollywood Moments_ is the followup to lensman Murray Garrett's first collection of pictures, _Hollywood Candid_. During his 27-year career, Garrett specialized in photographing the celebrities of classic Hollywood, not in the somewhat sterile environment of portrait studios, but in their daily activities - on the set, on the town, at home, with their children, or just fooling around. This large, beautifully formatted book, as does the first one, presents many more of his best photographs, as before chiefly drawn from the late 1940's through the early 1960's. Many of the black-and-white photographs printed here are in full-page format, and most photos are accompanied by anecdotes about the circumstances of their taking. Great gift idea for any fan of classic movies!
