About the Author

Author and speaker Joan Price calls herself an "advocate for ageless sexuality." She has been called other things by the media: "senior sexpert, "the beautiful face of senior sex," and--her favorite--"wrinkly sex kitten." At age sixty-one, Price wrote Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk about Sex After Sixty (Seal Press, 2006) to celebrate the delights of older-life sexuality--especially her spicy love affair with artist Robert Rice, who became her husband. Five years later, after questions and comments from hundreds of readers about their own senior sex lives, she is following up with Naked at Our Age.Formerly a high school English teacher, Price is also a fitness professional who believes that exercise should be a treat, not a treatment. She has written several books about health and fitness, including The Anytime, Anywhere Exercise Book: 300+ Quick and Easy Exercises You Can Do Whenever You Want. Price teaches popular contemporary line dancing classes (which she calls "the most fun you can have with both feet on the floor") in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, California.

THE BEST. This is the best text for senior sexuality I have read to date. I receommend this for anyone, young or older, to gain a better understanding and acceptance of our bodies as they change over time and the effect of that on ones sexuality. Men, a great read to understanding the changes in your female partners ,as well as in your own bodies and needs. Women this can help you develop comassion for the changes a man goes through in his "menopausal" years. It can bring the diferences together in compassion and renewed love-making.

it's an honest look at senior sexuality. With our growing population living longer than ever, expectations need to be tempered. As we age, we are not always capable of doing the things we once were, but that doesn't mean it's all over in the bedroom, far from it. There are new adventures and experiences we can all have. There are new options never before opened to us. This book gives us a look into what we are all capable of in our golden years, and frankly, the golden years have never looked more ripe with possibility. I highly recommend it.

A wonderful antidote to the sophomoric treatment of senior sex usually found in our phallocentric culture and in mainstream media. Joan Price is a senior, a woman, and feisty, and she makes no bones about it. This book brings seniors out into the open, discussing not only the physical limitations of sex as we age, but in addition celebrating sex among seniors who no longer worry about the acceptance of sex among seniors. It is a liberating book, in the sense that one will often come across a frank discussion by a senior that echoes what readers have privately wondered about, but dared not speak of. You may say "I thought I was the only one!". Well you aren't, so cast off your inhibitions and read of mostly married couples who decide to test some other ways of continuing the physical bond.

This book answered many questions for me.Very good as a delightful resource book and both men and women are open and honest concerning issues that arise as one enters senior life.Read it,you will really enjoy this book.

I'd have to agree with some other reviewers that there was more of an emphasis on women's issues than men's here. Reading the prologue told you why but author did make an effort to include both sexes and ages from 50's to 80's. Not all bad to see women's issues for me, as it helped to get some insight into my wife's point of view on a few things.I liked that author included what seemed to be direct quotes from people who were sources rather than 'processing' them through her filter. Nuances don't get lost that way as much.Book flowed well and was an easy read. Also, topic headings allowed me to skip sections that did not apply to us (i.e. gay, unmarried, sexless marriages, etc.).

The focus of this book is on placing sexual satisfaction high on life's priority list. It is informative, encouraging and direct, although it includes topics that may not appeal to all readers (i.e. it addresses gay/lesbian/bisexual issues, paying for sexual services, S&M acts, sex with multiples, and extra-marital sex). With the acknowledgement that I personally found certain topics addressed to be contrary to my beliefs, here is a summary of the book:GOOD: This book is first and foremost a clear encouragement to remain sexually active and to continue to work at sexual pleasuring for as long as you live, whatever that looks like in your situation. It advocates expanding one's view of sex from traditional intercourse to include other forms of sex play, according to what one's body can perform. There is good basic information that is informative to those who may have never read a sex manual, with particular emphasis on the effects of aging on the sexual organs. It advocates seeking the services of a sex therapist, to specifically discuss personal problems, and learn new techniques. It also stresses practicing safe sex (use of condoms), a practice which the author believes is largely ignored by people our age. If you have sexual interests that are not mainstream, you will find acceptance and encouragement in this book. There is also a helpful list of links at the back of the book for additional research on many topics.BAD: Much of the factual information covered is basic, and available elsewhere. There is limited discussion about the day-to-day use of various options for dealing with ED -- other books cover this topic better. There are no illustrations or diagrams in this book. If you are a traditional, heterosexual individual with no desire to experiment with sexual activities outside your marriage, portions of this book will be irrelevant (and possibly offensive) to you.SUMMARY: Not as good as other books for a married, heterosexual traditionalist. However, its readable style and exploration of a great many topics are likely to be drawing points for many readers.

Jon price does not mince words. Most of the book is made up of questions she is commonly asked on speaking engagements. Her qustions and answers pertain to all kinds of people in different situations. This may be a bit more risque, but she tackles the subjects she encountersin a respectful and dignified manner.

A good book about people expressing their sexuality. Many helpful comments from trained therapists. The author shares her helpful perceptions and experiences along with the individuals and couples who share their experiences and questions.
