Having read all of the volumes, I can say that Rapske's is easily the most interesting (perhaps because of the subject), and is easy to comprehend for a technical subject. I would add that I contacted the author by email for several questions, and found him to be quite down to earth and helpful. You can't go wrong if you are a student of the 1st century setting behind Biblical works!

Ronald Comer has been a professor in Princeton University s Department of Psychology for the past 27 years and has served as Director of Clinical Psychology Studies for most of that time. His course "Abnormal Psychology" is one of the university s most popular, and he has offered it almost every year since his arrival at Princeton.He is also a practicing clinical psychologist and serves as a consultant to the Eden Institute for Persons with Autism and to hospitals and family practice residency programs throughout New Jersey. Additionally, he holds an adjunct position as Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In addition to his abnormal psychology textbooks with Worth Publishers, Professor Comer has also published a number of journal articles in clinical psychology, social psychology, and family medicine. Professor Comer was an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate student at Clark University. He currently lives in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, with his wife, Marlene, and their dog, Annie. This is my first college textbook that I actually took the time to read. My professor was very low tech, so there were no lecture notes, no PowerPoints, anything. This book is so wonderfully organized and interesting. It is full of information but isn’t too long either! I love it and I highly recommend it even if you don’t usually read your textbooks. It is updated for the DSM 5, so that’s a plus.

I've used kindle textbooks and digital textbooks before and the format of this one is slightly frustrating. There are no page numbers and no adjustable settings to get the actual text page numbers. Very impractical for a textbook as students need page numbers to cite. I am hoping my professor will accept kindle's version of "location" number but this is very much a fault on the publisher's part.

This was a required textbook for my psychology class, and I found it to be very easy to understand. Its only fault (in my opinion) is that it is a paperback. After taking it out of my backpack and putting it back a million times, the cover and first few pages became rather worn. It was one of the better textbooks I have used though.

They do not have a mobile app and the ebook has to read on a PC. As it stands this product is useless for the modern student who has multiple devices and would like to read the book while using public transportation to get to class or is on the go a lot. Textbook companies need to get with the times or people will just torrent the books and leave them out of the loop.

Never thought I'd like a psych. book. I rented this one for a needed class, but I'm considering buying it. Very interesting material.It arrived with very little wear and in excellent shape.

Great book for my college course but it's also interesting to read for leisure too if you're a psychology nerd like I am. I bring this to the laundromat to browse through even though I'm done with my course. It's THAT interesting!

Love this easy formatted textbook that has chapter quizzes and comprehensive glossary.

I don't like reading textbooks, but this one was super interesting. If you like psychology and have to read this book, don't worry, there's plenty of pictures and cool facts to keep you awake and even interested.

I am guilty of not finishing this book. The music conversations get a little drifty and rambling. It seems you'd almost have to be listening to the music at the same time and reading their discussions. However, I enjoyed the concept of the author interviewing the musician, and comparing their different passions and hard word. For example, each getting up at 4am to read scores or to write. There are some real gems too, like "a musician finds their flavor as they age." So True.

Murakami is also a writer that rarely fails; he has written the conversations he had with Seji Ozawa, definitely the most important figure on Western music from Japan. But the conversations also are full of love (for Ozawa), and understanding and sympathy. Ozawa comes out bigger...and so does Murakami. Both come out of the book well,very well.

It is great that in this era we can listen to many of the performances mentioned without requiring an enormous record library. The book is entertaining and absorbing even for some one without extensive knowledge of classical music.

I've read most of Murakami's work, and I have great appreciation and respect for it. Although I have enjoyed this particular work, it's really going to be most appreciated by serious students of music, which I am not. Kind of beautiful insights into the minds of the real characters, but if you are looking for a novel, I point you toward Wind Up Bird, or Norwegian Wood, Kafka on the Shore, especially for anyone who has never read this author. He's wonderful and should get a Nobel someday.

What a remarkable lyrical open easy read. I have encouraged anyone who cares about classical music to read it. It's a gem!

Conversations between the Author and Maestro are lovely. They pull you in to the past the emotion,the feel and thought given to the music they discuss. Using my prime music, i listen to the music they talk about too. I love this little book. Note: Mr.Murakami stated that Maestro Maurice Peress was of Puerto Rican American decent.p 130. Paperback. I have an Oster CKSTBRTW20 Bread Maker (LOVE it). So far, I have made the recipes for Honey Grain, Sandwich, and Cheddar Cheese Bread. All of them turned out great! I'm looking forward to trying the Caramelized Onion Loaf as well as the Asiago Tomato Bread. More baking days ahead...Update - March 12, 2015: made the Caramelized Onion Loaf and it was so good! Even better with a smear of butter!

We've quite enjoyed this cookbook. We're finally getting some use out of the bread maker we got at our wedding. The recipes in this book are much better than ones that came with the bread machine. We especially enjoyed the English muffin recipe and the cinnamon raisin bread. Even the basic bread was better than store-bought. We can't wait to try more of them!

I just got a bread machine for me and wanted more recipes than the few that come with the book. This one is great for that. It gives me a lot of variety and we can enjoy a different bread every time I go into the kitchen. I don't think I have made the same bread twice. Because we live in a cold weather state, I make a lot of soup and nothing goes better with soup than hot bread.

Any language text with a subtitle of "Write and Speak ____ like a native!" makes me a bit leery, but this is a great text. No, it won't make you write and speak like a native, but it will help you cement your previous learning and provide a bridge from elementary level texts (Genki I+II, etc.) into the intermediate level texts (for example: An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese by Miura & McGloin). The book is thoughtfully organized with explanations and examples being clear and helpful. Also because the book is divided into learning ("Japanese Grammar: An Overview") and reference ("Dictionary of Usage") sections, it remains useful as a quick reference book for looking up particle (and other grammar) usages long after you've made your way through the learning section of the book.I'm JLPT N5 certified and when translating Japanese light novels, I use this book as my primary reference when I come across something that I need to look up. While it's not comprehensive (I come across usages that aren't covered from time to time), this the best book on Japanese particles (and common use grammar) that I've found and I use it almost daily.

This book is so awesome. Breaks down Japanese grammar into two parts, first an overview of the different components of Japanese grammar, then a dictionary of how these components function. Both sections have been so helpful in my struggle to grasp this difficult language. Get it.

This is by far the best Japanese grammar book I've ever laid my hands on. And I've laid my hands on many a grammar book.It provides an extensive number of examples, including examples for every particle and phrase structure in the language. It is extensive.

This is an excellent reference book, however, it loses the fifth star because it is not organized in a way that is helpful to beginners in studying the language like me. Verbs are near the end, after the section on conditional clauses (what do you need to learn first, verb conjugation or clause construction?) The appendices in the back of the book are incredibly useful.

I have been studying Japanese independently using multiple apps, books, and J-dramas for years and there are still some nuances in Japanese communication that are difficult to understand. However, this book makes those concepts easy to grasp and is an excellent, essential book for anyone trying to learn this complicated language!

It has a lot of info, but I don't like how it's organized. I find myself having to flip back and forth too much to find connecting info so my brain can assimilate it.

Very informative and examples throughout every section are extremely helpful. It be better for the reader if they have a good grasp of English grammar.

I’ve been speaking Japanese for 10 years and this book is great bridge for speakers who want to take their Japanese to the next level.

One day in October 2006 Terri Roberts was having lunch with a good friend when they heard sirens in the distance and saw police helicopters overhead. As was her case, she offered a quick prayer before finishing her lunch. On her was back to the office she turned on the car radio and heard the breaking news of a shooting at an Amish School. This led to a second prayer for the families of the victims. Even as she was walking into her office the telephone was ringing. Her husband needed her to come to the home of their oldest son immediately. When she arrived, she learned that not only had her son been the shooter, but he had taken his own life. The shock and horror were almost unbearable.In an effort to understand what had happened and why, she wrote her autobiography. When she reached the time of the shooting, the story evolved into efforts at understanding and seeking forgiveness. With the passage of time she became acquainted with the families of the slain girls and other members of the Amish community. The grief and forgiveness had to go both ways.While she will never fully recover or understand why, she has made progress. Gradually she began telling her story in local churches and in time, she quit work to devote her energies to public speaking and telling the story. Whenever possible she takes a member of the Amish community, especially a family member of the slain girls, with her and asks them to share their story.This book is part of the ongoing effort. It offers us all a lesson in forgiveness.

My husband and I were in Lancaster preparing to take a buggy ride by an Old Order Amishman about 7 miles from Nickel Mines school when it all happened. That night we went to see a performance. At the end of it, the owner came to talk to the huge audience. He said many of the cast members who usually perform their role were played by stand ins because they had family member involved in today's happening. He did not mention that their manager of concessions was the shooters mother. He did ask us all to stand while the performers came down to join us in prayer. We prayed for the children involved and their families. We also prayed for the shooter and his family. This event has had an impact on my husband and me, especially in our prayer life.this book touched me too as like we are not only hoping for blessing for the Amish families but the one who did an evil thing that day. His family was dying inside too. Blessing to all who touch that autumn day.

A powerful and moving story of one Mom's struggle to assimilate the horrific act her son had carried out. It taught me that there is another family who is behind this type of crime -an innocent family who is just as shocked as any of the victims' families. Often the families of perpetrators are ostracized and treated as if they are the guilty ones, but they are grieving too. It doesn't diminish the magnitude of the crime. It just shows that the scope is bigger than any of us imagine. I truly admire this mother for speaking out and for her testimony of what true faith can do for each of us when/if we ever face a situation such as this.

To be honest, I've never given much thought to what killers' families go through except to think they must have been dysfunctional families. This book is gripping. Recounting sections of it to my husband would leave me in tears. I had to read the book slowly, put it down, and ponder. This shows true love in action, and excellent writing as well. Great book and message.

An amazing life story that brings healing. My daughter was murdered 25 years ago and I too had to forgive to move on with my life. It took many years of praying I choose to forgive, help me with my unforgiveness. This is a wonderful testimony of God's love and grace.

I am so glad I read this book. I was so moved by Terri's openness and honesty. Her willingness to be used by God to help others as she had so much pain in her own life. And to have their Amish neighbors so open & forgiving of her and her husband, wow! I would tell my husband about parts of it & we both needed the kleenex as we were so touched.And then for her to have her own health issues besides, and not letting that stop her.This is a story that will stay with me for a long time to come.
