I bought this hoping it would be helpful to me as a tourist, like a Frommers or Fodor's guide. But it's a far cry from those standards. This "city guide" does not even include a single map! It also turns out that it's simply a compilation of material available on the author's website. It's.organized by neighborhood, and without a map, you have no way of knowing where these neighborhoods are. In the author's survey of downtown hotels, the Fairmont, one of the best, isn't even mentioned. There is some good info about some restaurants, but other than that, I found it pretty worthless compared to what's online, or the Pittsburgh section of the AAA Tour Book.

This was very informative and the best up-to-date option for my recent trip. Don't expect glossy images, and there are typos that make it seem a little thrown together in terms of editing process, but for the information on key sights and history this fit the bill.

This was a book that I think is actually even more impactful than Think and Grow Rich, but it never got the accolades that Napoleon Hill's book got. Reading this book, really puts a lot of things into perspective about how the mind enters into the results that we get in life. It makes things about as clear as you could possibly want them to be, about understanding how to dictate your life through the power of thought. Amazing book, highly recommend.

I suggest listening to the audio on Youtube. It edits out a lot of the blah, blah, blah. Powerful if you believe in believing in yourself. The mirror technique I found to be very powerful.

This is my fourth reading of this classic on psychokinesis. I have very good intuitive thinking therefore it takes very little to convince me of the existence of the powers of the subconscious mind. Thinking on what you want and seeing it over and over and over again.. Its work pushing out other thoughts that try to creep in? thoughts that don't even matter, thoughts that say "you cant have that, you cant do that, you cant be that.." It takes hard mental labor daily to develop "The Magic of Believing"

Perhaps because DHAKA is such an immense city, the reduction to 22 pages shrinks the streets and names to near invisibility. Few street names are provided, most in Bangla, impossible to read. I know Dhaka pretty well and have found this map/booklet useless. All the one-star reviews in this general map series (and almost all are one-star) make sense. A nice booklet cover, but the maps inside are unreadable.

This product is absolutely worthless. It is essentially a bunch of poorly formatted printed off versions of Mapquest thrown into paperback binding. Most of the pages are blurry and you are not given any legend or orientation features either. I feel this product is false advertising and Amazon needs to do a better job ensuring their product descriptions are what they actually provide.

my 6 grader son usually read adventure/ fantasy books. I wished he reads more of non fiction books, and bought this work book.it has lots of helpful articles and my son learns a lot from it. I am satisfied with purchasing this book.

5 stars!!! Worth Buying NEW! This work book is designed for teachers to use in the classroom. each lesson is reproducible. if you buy it used make sure you get the CD- it has ALL the worksheets on it as a PDF! No cutting the book apart to print the pages off. this was a big win! LOVE IT!

To preface my review, I am a 5th grade teacher.Compared to other nonfiction trade books, the lexile score of the articles are higher. The worksheets that are paired with the articles require more of the students. Students are often asked to cite evidence from the text and justify their answers. There are hardly any multiple choice questions. Overall, I think this product helps to support the rigor of the Common Core State Standards.

Not enough material. A lot of the pages were turial for the parent not lessons for your kid.

This gave my son, who just started middle school the extra help he needed with his critical thinking

I should have read the other reviews. Luckily, you are reading this... so move along.This is NOT "The Secret Garden". It is "A CONSIDERABLY ABRIDGED Cliff's Notes style childrens re-enactment of The Secret Garden". Nowhere in the description did it say that this was not the real book. It's like half an inch think written in 25 pt. font. My 10 year old daughter read it in less than an hour. Her last book.... Little Women. The real one. 800 pages. I promised her she would like this. Instead she just looked at me like..."really?". And I don't blame her. Seller should update the description.Sorry, but anyone else leaving a higher rating may simply not realize that they received a fraud.PROS: Very pretty cover. Hardback.CONS: See everything I wrote above.

This book is the source and template for so many children's lit conventions that it is hard to imagine a library without multiple copies.You can sample the book as a Kindle freebie or in some other downloadable form, since it's out of copyright and readily available. Then, and better yet, after you read it and discover its pleasures, look for a nice edition to give to each young reader you know. There are easy to read books that are shallow, and there are harder to read books with considerable depth, but this one manages to be accessible to a fairly young reader and yet still loaded with fine writing, style, character, mystery, romance, adventure and inspiration. An excellent choice.And while you're at it, take a look at Burnett's "Little Lord Fauntleroy". He's gotten a bad rap, (probably as a result of those Fauntleroy suits and haircuts that were the rage in the twenties), but he's actually smart , level headed, and shrewdly decent in unexpected ways. So go and get your Burnett on.

I am not really sure how I missed out on this book as a child so I decided to read it with my daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and zipped through it in just a few days. Frances Hodgson Burnett shares some amazing insights into human nature with the reader. My daughter exclaimed at one point, “How can Mary see that Colin is spoiled but not see that she was the same at first too?” Led to some great discussions for sure! I also thought it was amazing that Burnett at times switches between different third person limited perspectives and we even have some of the events in the garden narrated from the point of view of the robin! Such clever writing!Some reviewers complained about the fact that many of the characters speak with a Yorkshire accent and Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote it phonetically the way the characters pronounced the words. I thought it added to the fun! I tried to speak with the broad Yorkshire accent as I read it out loud and changed my voice for the different characters. My daughter and I both loved it. The Yorkshire dialect was interesting and we have been trying to throw some of the words we learned into conversation such as “wick” meaning alive or lively. From my point of view, that beats trying to throw something modern like “on fleek” into conversation!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very well developed. The story was interesting, it was difficult to put down the book. The writing style, the description of events... you name it.. everything is just perfect. Thus it deserves a 5 star rating.This was my first ever kindle in motion ebook and it was good enough not know what exactly to expect. Say 10-15 pictures with motion in a book with around 21 chapters and over 250 pages. There were very few pages with illustration in motion (not many) and others with sketches of flowers. There were branches on all corners of each page and i loved that as the story proceeds, those blanches are full of leaves and flowers.I enjoyed reading this book and I hope you do too. I never read this as a child, and I think I'm glad. Reading it now, as an over-60, garden-loving mom with lots of life experience, I think I appreciate it a lot more, although I would have loved the mystery as a kid. Now I can appreciate the serious racism, the sad child(ren) neglect, the rather pagan awakening to nature (clothed as "Magic"), and the joyous, if obvious, ending. I believe the writing was very good for its time, and had no problem with the Yorkshire dialect. Mary and Colin and Dickon all struck me as very believable characters, and the changes wrought in Mary and Colin were overall pretty credible, although they happened a bit too quickly. I had more of a problem with Archibald's rejection of his son for ten whole years. Dwelt just a bit much on the beauty and changeableness of the moors. Well worth reading.
